‘Game of Thrones’ Star Maisie Williams Talks Arya, The Hound’s Parting Scene and Relationship with Rory McCann Off-Cam
Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark in the hit HBO fantasy drama series “Game of Thrones,” has opened up about her character’s farewell scene with Sandor Clegane or The Hound, portrayed by Rory McCann, and the odd friendship she has developed with the actor who is 28 years older than her.
Very cool that they’re friends in real life. Rory does kind of remind me of a big kid sometimes (in a very good way, of course), so it seems fitting he wouldn’t notice the age difference that much and respects her for the person she is.
On a different note, I’ve gotten sad all over again thinking of that scene. :-( So touching and both actors were incredible. I still haven’t given up hope though. Until I see a corpse or am given more definitive proof, I’m not buying that he dies. He was still breathing when she left him so that’s what I’m holding onto. Long live, The Hound!!
Okay, so Alex Graves isn’t completely clueless.
The Hound is presumably dead. What did you tell the actor about his death scene?
Everything he says is fairly ugly. The only thing I said to Rory was, “Everything you say is basically, ‘I love you. Kill me.’ ” He brought in that sense of brotherly or paternal affection for her, and it is really not being returned in his final moments.
Rory definitely sold it. Excuse me, I’ll be over in the corner wiping away tears.
